Our History
Forty years’ experience and professionalism are behind MEDICA’s market growth, enabling it to become one of the leading providers of dependency care in France. This success has been marked by certain important milestones:
- A family company founded by Pierre Burel in 1968, MEDICA is bought out by the Société Centrale Immobilière de la Caisse des Dépôts in 1999.
- MEDICA expands in France notably through the acquisition of EIS (Qualisanté group) and the Doyennés Europe group. Targeted as a leading player in a sector with strong growth potential, MEDICA is taken over by BridgePoint Capital and Alpinvest in 2003.
- MEDICA launches its international expansion in 2005 by establishing a presence in the Italian market through the acquisition of the Aetas group.
- On the advice of BC Partners, several investment funds take control of 87.71% of MEDICA’s capital in 2006.
- Since then, MEDICA has been pursuing its growth through the creation of new facilities.
- MEDICA is the largest French company to float on the Paris stock exchange in early 2010.
